Movement Meditation

Image
Movement Meditation is slightly different that the rest of meditation kinds. Movement meditation is not your usual meditation where you sit still and focus on your breath. Instead, you are moving through various positions with a mindful and slow pace. This practice is not very common, but these we can meet with movement meditation more often in different meditation centres.  Mindfulness is the biggest part of movement meditation; for example, being mindful of your muscles as they move or the feeling of your feet against the floor as you move. Movement meditation focuses on the movements of the body rather than the goal of the movement itself. Picking up a pen, book or bottle is not normally registered by your mind, but being mindful of the process makes the movement much different. For instance, you feel the bend of the legs and the arm as you reach down for the item. You notice the movement as the head as it looks towards the subject. You feel it against your hand as you begin to...

Feng Shui

Image
Feng shui it is also known as Chinese geomancy. It’s an ancient Chinese philosophy as well as pseudoscience traditional practice that helps people find balance in the way they live their lives by harmonizing their living spaces with nature through spatial design.  The key is qi (pronounced “chee”), or the energy that connects all living things. Through the implementation of specific design principles that promote auspiciousness, feng shui is said to allow your energy to flow uninhibited through your home, improving your overall quality of life. BAGUA Bagua is one of the principals in Feng Shui and it translates to “eight areas,” is an energy map placed over the floor plan of your home. It’s a three-by-three grid with eight boxes, each representing a different category of your life—loosely translated into wealth, fame, love, family, children, knowledge, career, and helpful people—with the center box representing you. If any of these areas in your life need improvement, you should ap...

Focused Meditation

Image
FOCUSED MEDITATION Focused meditation involves focusing on something intently as a way of staying in the present moment and slowing down the inner dialogue. It's different than classic meditation, where you focus on nothing to quiet your mind, with focused meditation, you still remain in the present, but focus wholly on one thing, using your five senses like sounds, visual items, tactile sensations, tastes, smells, and even your own breathing, much like mindfulness meditation techniques, eg. counting mala beads, listening to a gong, or staring at a candle flame. This practice may be simple in theory, but it can be difficult for beginners to hold their focus for longer than a few minutes at first. If your mind does wander, it’s important to come back to the practice and refocus. As the name suggests, this practice is ideal for anyone who requires additional focus in their life. Where to start?  Begin with five-minute sessions and each time try to extend the periods of time as you be...

Spiritual Meditation

Image
SPIRITUAL MEDITATION Spiritual meditation is an experience that takes you to the depths of who you are. You, as your real self, stripped of all the perceptions you had about yourself until that point in your life. In the process, you experience joy and peace. A feeling of love and light warms up your being. Spiritual meditation is used in Eastern religions, such as Hinduism and Daoism, and in Christian faith. It’s similar to prayer in that you reflect on the silence around you and seek a deeper connection with your God or Universe. Essential oils are commonly used to heighten the spiritual experience. Popular options include: 🪔frankincense 🪔myrrh 🪔sage 🪔cedar 🪔sandalwood 🪔palo santo At its core, spiritual meditation is the mindful practice of connection to something that is greater, vaster, and deeper than the individual self. It may seem paradoxical, but the path to that connection passes through honest self-reflection. Spiritual meditation can be practiced at home or in a place...

Mindfulness Meditation

Image
MINDFULNESS MEDITATION Mindfulness meditation originates from Buddhist teachings and is the most popular meditation technique in the West. In mindfulness meditation, you pay attention to your thoughts as they pass through your mind. You don’t judge the thoughts or become involved with them. You simply observe and take note of any patterns. This practice combines concentration with awareness. You may find it helpful to focus on an object or your breath while you observe any bodily sensations, thoughts, or feelings. This type of meditation is good for people who don’t have a teacher to guide them, as it can be easily practiced alone.  Below I wilk wrote exercise teaches you basic mindfulness meditation: ✔️ Sit on a straight-backed chair or cross-legged on the floor. ✔️ Focus on an aspect of your breathing, such as the sensations of air flowing into your nostrils and out of your mouth, or your belly rising and falling as you inhale and exhale. ✔️ Once you’ve narrowed your concentratio...
